First Datacorp Joins National DepEd ICT Summit

This year’s National DepEd ICT Summit, where education leaders and stakeholders converged to harness best Information and Communications Technology (ICT) innovations from all over the country, was held on February 27 and 28, 2018 at The Blue Leaf Filipinas, Belle Avenue, Aseana City, Parañaque City. First Datacorp partnered with F5 Networks and Microsoft to showcase solutions to the education industry in this two-day conference.

With the theme, Digital Transformation for the KID (K-12 + ALS, ICT, DepEd), the Summit highlighted best practices of teaching and learning initiatives, as well as efficient governance and operations through ICT integration. DepEd and education partners firmly believe that by encouraging schools to come up with the best ICT implementations, partnerships, and innovations, they can build a shared pool of knowledge that could improve access to education and bridge the digital divide for millions of Filipino learners.

To feature and help sustain different ICT initiatives, The Summit also served as a venue for ICT Innovations Awards.

Microsoft Office 365 Gets Global Recognition for Work in Accessibility

Microsoft was recognized as an Innovative Practice of the Zero Project 2018 for the accessibility features in Office 365 in the Zero Project Awards held on February 23, 2018. The Zero Project, part of the Essl Foundation based in Austria, works for a world without barriers by researching and publishing innovations from around the world that help improve the daily lives and legal rights of persons with disabilities.

Office 365 was awarded for its inclusively designed features which allow persons of all abilities to communicate in a variety of accessible ways, including accessible templates, an accessibility checker, intelligent alternative text and built-in learning tools. These innovations are improved on feedback from a disability community of more than 1,000 persons worldwide that Microsoft actively tracks.
